THE AUTISM SPECTRUM
Autism is a neurological disorder that affects functions in the brain. It can appear in a variety of ways and in different degrees, resulting in a spectrum of disorders.
Symptoms can range from mild to severe and include problems with communication, social interaction, poor eye contact, sensory difficulties, and repetitive behaviors. This developmental disability can also be complicated by other challenges as well.
Many affected require lifetime care while others may only need limited help. Once considered relatively rare, autism is one the fastest growing developmental disabilities today.
